Hoya Women Fall to BIG EAST Rival Pittsburgh, 6-1

Pittsburgh, Pa. - The Georgetown women's tennis team fell to BIG EAST rival, Pittsburgh, 6-1 at Club 4 Life on Saturday evening, as senior Liz Winokur (Palm Harbor, Fla./Palm Harbor University High) picked up the Hoyas lone point in the No. 5 singles match.

Senior Stephanie Cohen (Fayetteville, N.Y./DeWitt) and junior Courtney Olsen (Englewood, Colo./Colorado Academy) opened up a 3-2 lead in No. 1 doubles match, but Kristy Borza and Elizabeth Adams rallied back to take a 6-3 lead. Cohen and Olsen did not give up, tying the match at seven before the Panthers duo won the tiebreak to help sweep the doubles competition.

GU played Pitt close, as Cohen fell, 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 2 match to Sabrina Visram. Freshman Caroline Kuehn (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) pushed Adams to a tiebreaker in the first set in the No. 3 singles match. Adams went on to win the tiebreak and the second set to defeat Kuehn.

Freshman Elizabeth Sullivan (Potomac, Md./National Cathedral School) prolonged her match in the No. 4 spot, taking the second set against Christie D'achille to a second set tiebreaker before losing, 2-6, 6-4 (10-7).
