WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown women's tennis team swept doubles play, but could not hold win enough on the singles side to overcome University of Delaware, as the Blue Hens defeated the Hoyas, 4-3 at the McDonough Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon. The Hoyas got off to a quick start, sweeping the doubles matches from the Blue Hens, as seniors Stephanie Cohen (Fayetteville, N.Y./DeWitt) and Liz Winokur (West Palm Beach, Fla./Cardinal Newman) defeated Susan Pollack and Courtney Fenimore, 9-7 in the top doubles match. Freshmen Elizabeth Sullivan (Potomac, Md./National Cathedral School) and Alex Sebia (Plains, Pa./Scranton Prep) earned an 8-6 win in the No. 2 doubles match, and freshmen Maxi Thiels (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) and Caroline Kuehn (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) won in the third spot, 8-5. GU earned its first singles victory as Sebia defeated Alexa Dragonette in the fifth singles match. Junior Courtney Olsen (Englewood, Colo./Colorado Academy) concluded the match with a three set victory over Fenimore, though the Blue Hens had previously clinched a 4-3 victory.
