TAMPA, Fla. - Freshman Caroline Kuehn (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) became just the third Georgetown women's tennis player to win a match at the BIG EAST Tournament this decade, as she defeated Pittsburgh's Leah Friedman, 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 6 singles match, but the Hoyas fell to Pittsburgh, 4-1 in the consolation match. Kuehn joined Lucky Ravindra and Caroline Marshall, who each registered victories against West Virginia in 2000, as Hoyas to win singles matches at the BIG EAST Tournament since 2000. GU dropped the top doubles match, before freshman Maxi Thiels (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) and junior Courtney Olsen (Englewood, Colo./Colorado Academy) won the third doubles match, 8-6. Pitt was able to squeeze out a victory in the decisive No. 2 match, as freshmen Alex Sebia (Plains, Pa./Scranton Prep) and Elizabeth Sullivan (Potomac, Md./National Cathedral School) lost 9-8 (5) to surrender the team point to the Panthers. Pitt took the top two singles matches in straight sets, before Kuehn earned the Hoyas lone victory of the tournament, winning 6-4, 6-1 in straight sets to make the score 3-1. Pitt's Elizabeth Adams defeated Thiels, 6-4, 6-3 to clinch the match in the third singles position.
