HC Competes At Day One Of Patriot League Championship

Annapolis, MD. - The men's and women's track and field team traveled to Annapolis, Md., today to take part in the 2008 outdoor track and field Patriot League Championship meet hosted by Navy. After day one, the men are currently in seventh place while the women are in fifth.

Top place finisher for the men today was junior Stephen Mandravelis (Nashua, N.H.) taking second in the hammer throw with a toss of 170-08-feet earning eight points for the Crusaders. The men placed seven top ten finishers in day one of the meet.

For the women, sophomore Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) qualified for the finals with a third place finish in the 100-meter with a time of 12.15 and in the 200-meter with a time of 25.05. Junior Lesley Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland) finished third in the pole vault with a jump of 11-05.75 earning six points for the Crusaders. The women's 4x800 relay team took third with a time of 9:10.09. Members of the team were Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.), Katie Clay (Beverly, Mass.), Christine Carifio (Haverhill, Mass.) and Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.). The women had 12 top ten finishes.

The Crusaders conclude the Patriot League Championship meet on Saturday. Start time is set for 9:00 a.m.
