HC Women's Ice Hockey Edges Out New England College In Over-time, 4-3

Henniker, N.H. - Holy Cross women's ice hockey team traveled to Henniker, N.H. to take on New England College (NEC) in tonight's conference match. The Crusaders won in over-time 4-3 improving their record to 11-7-1 (8-5-0 ECAC) while the NEC drops to 10-7-1 (7-5-1 ECAC). Senior Sam Rush (Wakefield, Mass.) and freshman Jocelyn Kratchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan) each had two goals in tonight's victory.

NEC came out with the first goal of the game scored at 14:13 in the first period. Holy Cross took 17 shots on goal and NEC had seven.

The Crusaders controlled the second period with two goals. The first was made by Rush at 1:55 with an assist by sophomore Lisa Wilson (Corunna, Ontario). The next goal was scored at 19:21 by Kratchmer with an assist from both junior Stephanie Couzin (Chicago, Ill.) and Rush. Holy Cross took 18 shots on goal, while NEC took five.

The third period was neck and neck, Holy Cross taking 15 shots on goal and NEC taking 13. NEC scored twice, one at 2:00 and the other at 8:40. Kratchmer, with an assist from Rush and Couzin, put in the final goal of the period to tie the game back up with 51 seconds left to the game.

In over-time Holy Cross took four shots on goal while NEC had none. Rush put in the winning-goal at 1:34 with an assist from freshman Emily Henry (Lumsden, Saskatchewan).

Freshman Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) was in goal giving up three goals and making 22 saves to improve her record to 8-5-1. NEC had Mary Rouz in goal, giving up four goals and making 50 saves dropping to 9-4-1.

Holy Cross will face off with MIT February 9 at the Hart Center Rink. Start time is set for 2:00 p.m.
