Holy Cross Softball Drops Game to Valparaiso, 6-7

Kissimmee, Fla. - Holy Cross softball traveled to Kissimmee, Fla. for the Rebel Games tournament. They opened up their first day 0-2, with a loss to Sacred Heart 5-3 and to Valparaiso 6-7.

In the game against Valparaiso the Crusaders were down 5-0 at the bottom of the third inning. At the top of the fourth with a run scored by senior Jayme Elliott (Gardena, Calif.) the Crusaders looked to make a comeback.

In the fifth inning the Crusaders scored five more runs to Valparaiso's two. Coming across the plate for the Crusaders was freshman Erin Fleming (Townsend, Mass.), senior Kelly O'Neil (White Plains, N.Y.), freshman Gibson Banta (Pasadena, Calif.), sophomore Amanda Audette (New Bedford, Mass.) and Elliott for her second run of the game. No runs were scored in the sixth or seventh innings.

On the mound for the first four innings was Audette giving up nine hits and five runs. Relieving her for the last two innings was freshman Katie Alexander (Tigard, Ore.). She gave up three hits and two runs.

The Crusaders play March 3, against Western Carolina at 9:00 am and against Fairfield at 1:00 pm.
