NEWPORT, R.I. - The Holy Cross women's tennis team traveled to Newport to take on Salve Regina in a non-conference match up. The Crusaders defeated Salve Regina 8-1, improving to 5-5 overall (1-3 Patriot League).

Kristen Meahl (Falmouth, Maine) defeated Heather Fox of Salve Regina at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6), and picked up a win at No. 1 doubles with partner Meg Moran (Concord, N.H.) 8-0. Ivette Konopka (Shelton, Conn.) picked up a win at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0, and at No. 3 doubles 8-0 with her partner Paige Brown (Hunting, N.Y.)

The Crusaders look to compete again on April 15 against Providence. Start time is set for 4:00 p.m.
