Hailee Lange Named Crusader Of The Week

Oct. 1, 2007

WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore Hailee Lange (Miami, Fla.) has been named the GoHolyCross.com Crusader of the Week, for competition from September 24-30. Lange helped lead the Holy Cross women's tennis team to a victory over Hartford last week, in addition to winning her singles flight at the Siena Invitational.

In Wednesday's 7-0 win over Hartford, Lange posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Michelle Tafur at No. 4 singles. She also teamed with junior Paige Brown (Huntington, N.Y.) to win 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.

At the Siena Invitational, Lange then posted a 3-0 singles record to claim the title in the B singles flight. On Saturday, she posted wins over Siena's Lauren Garbade (6-2, 6-3) and Providence's Dara Hawkings-Hogson (6-2, 6-1). Lange then went on to defeat sophomore teammate Ivette Konopka (Shelton, Conn.) in the championship match on Sunday. After dropping the first set 6-1, Lange came back to win the second set 6-2, and then came out victorious in a tiebreaker (12-10).

In addition to her singles play, Lange teamed with Brown to post a 1-2 record in the Siena Invitational A doubles flight.

Holy Cross (3-1 overall) returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 10, when it travels to Rhode Island for a 3:30 p.m. match.
