BIRMINGHAM, Ala. The University of Houston soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Conference USA foe UAB on Sunday in Birmingham, Ala.

Houston (4-8-1, 0-5-1 C-USA) allowed more than two goals and lost by a margin greater than one goal for the first time this season.

Senior goalkeeper Shelby Scott tallied a season-high 11 saves against the Blazers.

Trailing 2-0 late in the first half, senior forward Maegan Kiphart scored the lone goal for UH. Kiphart scored her first goal of the season in the 43rd minute to cut UAB's lead in half, but the Cougars would get no closer.

UAB (5-9, 3-3 C-USA) outshot the Cougars 26-3, led 2-1 at halftime and added a pair of goals in the final 45 minutes to seal the win.

Tiffini Turpin scored two goals for the Blazers, her sixth and seventh of the season. Laura McCalla and Carolyn Polcari each added a goal for UAB.

The Cougars continue their four-game road trip next weekend when they travel to face Southern Miss and UCF on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
