Tulsa, Okla. -- Junior Jessica Valis set the career triple record as the Cougars defeated Tulsa 11-1 to close out the series in Oklahoma. Valis' triple came in the third inning and gives her 12 for her career. Five of those have come this season, which is two shy of the single season mark of seven she set in 2007.

The 12 career triples pass the previous record of 11 set by current assistant coach Kim Nesloney from 2002-05.

Jessica Valis hit the triple to left field in the top of the third inning but despite reaching base she was stranded at the end of the inning as the next three batters registered three outs.

Houston responded in the bottom of the inning turning a double play and striking out a batter to keep the score at an even 0-0.

Junior Laurie Wagner put the Cougars on the board in the top of the fourth. With the count 1-1, she hit her 15th home run this season over the center field fence. Wagner's 15 homers this season rank as the second most home runs in Cougar single season history. She needs just two more home runs to tie the single season mark of 17 set by Kristen Glowacz in 2005.

UH would score seven runs in the fifth inning while batting through the lineup . The Cougars started things off loading in the bases and with one out Jessica Valis hit a two run double. Houston also had two home runs from junior Elaina Nordstrom and freshman Jennifer Klinkert. Houston capped the inning scoring two runs on a Golden Hurricane throwing error.

The Cougars would close out the game with three runs in the seventh inning behind a home run from freshman Baillie Lott. Junior Christa Raley scored after reaching base on an error and Jessica Valis scored the final run after reaching base on a single.

Tulsa put one run up in the fifth inning. The Golden Hurricane put two runners on base with a single and a double. After Sara Dyer was intentionally walked to load the bases, senior Angel Shamblin hit Kailey Yarmer to walk their only run.

Senior Angel Shamblin pitched the complete game moving to 25-2 this season. She allowed seven hits, one run, two walks and five strikeouts.

Houston moves to 40-7 overall this season and 15-2 in Conference USA. They are 6-4 in the all-time series against the Golden Hurricane.
