Softball Signs Pitcher to National Letter of Intent

April 14, 2008

HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team has continued preparations for 2009 softball season with the signing of Lindsey Olson to a National Letter of Intent.

"I am thrilled that we were able to sign another pitcher for next year. Lindsey is a competitor. She steps on the mound everyday with the intent to win," head coach Kyla Holas said.

Olson, a pitcher from Saskatchewan, Canada will join the Cougars as a junior after competing for two years a Galveston College. While at Galveston College she was a NJCAA All-American and an NCFA All-American. As a freshman, Olson went 30-5 with 10 saves. She nationally ranked in strikeouts and ERA.

"She has done some impressive things at Galveston and we hope she continues her winning ways with us. I look for her to be a strong compliment to Baillie and Kaela next year," Holas said.

Olson attended Big River High School in Canada and was the 2006 Valedictorian, graduating with a 4.0 GPA, and was the student body president. She was a member of the Saskatchewan High School All-Stars softball team that traveled and competed in Texas.

She is on the President and Dean's List at Galveston College and looks to pursue a medical degree in Psychiatry.
