University of Houston freshman Courtney Forcucci scored 566.25 points to capture second place in the 1-Meter event during the NCAA Zone D Diving Meet at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium.

With her performance, Forcucci was guaranteed a spot at the 2008 NCAA Championship, hosted by Ohio State on March 20-22.

Senior captain Ginni van Katwijk finished fifth with 541.70 points, while freshman Lacey Truelove placed 10th with 490.95 points.

Houston was the only program to have three divers in the Top Ten.

Texas' Mary Yarrison won the championship with 602.60 points, while teammate Kathyrn Kelly captured third with 546.90 points.

In the men's 3-meter event, Missouri's Gregory Destephen won with 707.90 points, and Texas' Jonathan Wilcox placed second with 707.55 points. Both divers will advance to the 2008 NCAA Championship in Federal Way, Wash., on March 27-29.

The meet will continue Saturday, starting with women's 3-meter at 10 a.m. The men's 1-meter event is scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m.

Both men and women will compete in the platform event Sunday, with the men's event starting at 10 a.m., and the women beginning at 12:30 p.m. However, there is a strong possibility that the platform event will be combined into a single men's and women's event.
