Cowboys Fall To LCU

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team fell to Lubbock Christian, 9-4, in non-conference action at Hunter Field on Tuesday afternoon.

LCU jumped out to a 3-0 lead with single runs in each of the first three innings. HSU cut the deficit to 3-2 on Wayne Pimpton's first home run of the year over the left field wall. James Gage tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth with an opposite field home run to left.

With three runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings, LCU opened the lead to 9-4. The Chaps scored three runs on four hits in the fifth inning and three runs on three hits in the sixth inning.

Pimpton drove in the game's final run in the eighth with a double off the left center wall.

Shane Karnbach earned the win for LCU with three innings of one run relief action. Tim Kriegel took the loss for the Cowboys after allowing five runs on five hits in one and two-third innings of action.

Pimpton, Ryan Stepp and Gage each had two hits for the Cowboys. Pimpton drove in three runs for the Cowboys. Tyler Johnson was 4-for-4 with three doubles and a home run and four RBIs to pace LCU.

HSU is now 3-2 on the year and LCU improved to 10-1. HSU will take the next 10 days off.
