Final Stats

ABILENE, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball completed a three-game sweep of Mississippi College with a pair of wins on Saturday at Hunter Field, 12-6 and 11-6.

Trailing 1-0 in the second game, Hardin-Simmons got on the board in the second inning when Wayne Pimpton led off with a home run. HSU also scored later on a wild pitch. MC tied the game up with a run in the third on a Paige Hodges home run and HSU came back with a single run in the third and four in the fourth. Kyle Post scored on a double play ball in the third and had an RBI single in the fourth and Mike Morgan had a three-run home run in the fourth.

MC scored an unearned run in the fifth and HSU picked up a run in the bottom of the fifth on a J.T. Armstrong single. Both teams scored three runs in the sixth. HSU scored two runs on Pimpton's second home run of the game and James Gage had an RBI single.

Josh Alcorn shut down the Choctaws with two and two-third innings of one-hit ball and Kyle Barton worked a scoreless ninth. Tim Kriegel earned the win with five solid innings.

In the opener, HSU trailed 6-2 going into the sixth inning but scored 10 runs in the sixth for the win.

Brian Weeks had an RBI fielder's choice in the third and Morgan had a solo home run to lead off the fifth to give the Cowboys their first two runs.

In the 10-run inning the Cowboys had seven hits and took advantage of two MC errors. HSU scored the first two runs on throwing errors. After that Pimpton had an RBI single, Gage had an RBI single, Tre' Sellari had a three-run home run.

Sam Walker earned the win out of the bullpen.

On the day Mike Morgan was 4-for-6 with a pair of home runs. Gage, Weeks and Pimpton each had four hits on the day.

HSU is now 6-2 on the year and MC fell to 1-6. HSU will play at Trinity on Tuesday.
