TYLER, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' baseball team dropped a 17-6 non-conference game at UT-Tyler on Tuesday afternoon in Tyler. HSU jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, when Ryan Stepp singled moved up on a walk by Brian Weeks. A ground out by James Gage put Stepp and Weeks on second and third and Stepp scored on a wild pitch and Weeks scored on a Wayne Pimpton RBI single. The lead was short lived as UTT scored four runs in the bottom of the first off of starter Sam Walker. HSU came back with a pair of runs in the second on a Tre' Sellari two-run home run to tie the game at 4-4. After that UTT scored in every inning but the eighth. Regan Dixon had an RBI single for the Cowboys in the third and Weeks had an RBI single in the fourth. Weeks returned to the Cowboy lineup after missing five games with an ankle injury. Taylor Berlin led the Cowboy 10-hit attack with two hits. UTT was paced by Joseph Towns who had five of the Patriots 25 hits. The Cowboys are now 14-13 on the year and will host UT-Dallas on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Hunter Field. --- HSU --- |
