LONGVIEW, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team is in fifth place after the first round of the LeTourneau Spring Invitational that is being held at the Pinecrest Country Club in Longview.

The Cowgirls shot a 368 and are only seven shots out of second and 16 shots behind leader Mary Hardin-Baylor. UT-Tyler is second with a 361, McMurry and Northwood are tied for third with a 365.

Alicia Yoder of UT-Dallas, playing as an individual, is in the medalist lead after shooting an 81. Two Cowgirls are in the top 10. Whitney Mitchell shot an 87 and is tied for fifth and Ashley Luecke shot an 88 and is tied for ninth.

DeLane Griffith shot 93, Heather Hambrick fired a 100 and Addie Vest shot 102 to round out the Cowgirl lineup.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
