LONGVIEW, Texas - Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team placed fifth at the LeTourneau Spring Invitational on Tuesday at the Pinetree Coutry Club in Longview.

The Cowgirls saw four of their five players improved their score from the first round. Ashley Liecke shot an 88-85-173 to lead the Cowgirls. She finished in seventh place.

Whitney Mitchell shot 87-95-182, DeLane Griffith shot 93-92-185, Heather Hambrick shot 100-99-199 and Addie Vest shot 102-100-202 to round out the Cowgirl lineup.

Northwood rallied for the tournament title with a tournament best round of 335. They finished with a two-day scored of 700. Mary Hardin-Baylor was second with a 352-359-711, McMurry was third with a 719, UT-Tyler fourth with a 739 and HSU shot 368-371-739.

Samantha Humphrey of UT-Tyler defeated UT-Dallas' Alica Yoder in a playoff for the individual crown. They both shot 166.

HSU will play in the ASC Championships next weekend in Ana, Texas.
