Final Stats

SEGUIN, Texas - Hardin-Simmons and Texas Lutheran split their American Southwest Conference doubleheader Friday afternoon with HSU winning the opener 8-2 and TLU winning the nightcap, 4-1.

The Cowgirls jumped to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning of the first game. Laura Rawlings, Karie Shuck and Lacie Cole each had RBIs in the inning for the Cowgirls. HSU scored an unearned run in the fifth and three runs in the sixth inning on a Courtney Clark RBI single and a two-run single by Sadye Hill.

Rawlings allowed only one hit and two unearned runs in five innings of work to move to 9-2 on the year. Cole finished up the final two innings. Rawlings also had three hits and Clark and Hill had two each. In the second game, the Cowgirls left 10 runners on base and hit into two double plays to fall 4-1.

HSU is now 13-7 overall and 7-3 in ASC action. Texas Lutheran is 9-11 overall and 4-2 in conference action. The two teams play a doubleheader on Saturday with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
