Baseball Faces Valparaiso In Road Doubleheader This Friday April 17, 2008

Chicago, Ill.- The UIC baseball team plays four Horizon League games in three days this weekend, beginning with a conference twinbill at Valparaiso this Friday. The doubleheader begins at noon at Emory G. Bauer Field in Valparaiso, Ind. The first game will pit UIC RHP Grant Kohlstaedt (4-2, 4.96 ERA) against Crusader RHP Alex Berry (1-4, 8.06 ERA). Friday's nightcap will feature the first start of the season for UIC LHP Don Phillis (3-1, 5.22 ERA). The sophomore southpaw is slated to take on Valpo LHP Jon Gulbransen (1-4, 4.78 ERA). UIC heads into the doubleheader with a 20-13 overall record and a 9-3 league ledger. Valpo has an overall mark of 10-21 to go with a 3-5 conference record. Friday's doubleheader wraps up a six-game road stretch for the Flames, who will return home this Sunday to host Wright State (16-16, 7-4 Horizon League) at Les Miller Field in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
