Chicago, Ill.- The UIC baseball team will play for the first time since April 30 when it tangles with Horizon League rival Milwaukee in a doubleheader at Henry Aaron Field this Friday afternoon. The opening contest begins at 2 p.m. when UIC right-hander Derrick Miramontes (5-1, 3.04 ERA) toes the rubber against Panther right-hander Brad Lusti (2-4, 4.83 ERA). The day concludes with a nightcap pitting Flames right-hander Grant Kohlstaedt (4-3, 6.15 ERA) and Milwaukee right-hander Andy Heterbrueg (4-6, 6.72 ERA). The Flames (24-18, 11-5 Horizon League) begin a stretch of four league games in three days with the doubleheader against the Panthers (17-31, 7-12). UIC will return home to host Cleveland State (20-21, 9-7) in a two-game set at Les Miller Field this Sunday starting at noon. Rookie center fielder Steve McGuiggan continues to pace the Flames at the plate with a team-best .373 average. In his last five games the true freshman out of Burnsville, Minn. is hitting .478 (11-for-23). Junior first baseman Brett Schaefer remains UIC's best run-producer. He has a career-high 39 RBI through 42 games, with 36 runs scored also among the highlights in his 2008 stat line.
