Chicago, Ill.- Josh Mayo scored a game-high 29 points as the UIC men's basketball team knocked off visiting Cleveland State, 74-68, at the UIC Pavilion on Thursday night.

The Flames (11-10, 5-5 Horizon League) overcame a four-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Vikings (14-8, 7-3 Horizon League) 12-2 in the first six minutes of the second half.

Mayo was 9-for-11 from the field and 4-for-5 from downtown. The junior guard became the 19th player in UIC history to score at least 1,000 points in a career after sitting on 998 points coming into the contest.

Robert Bush pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds, while Scott VanderMeer added 14 points, six rebounds and five blocked shots.

Joe Davis tallied 27 points to pace the Vikings.

The Flames swatted away 11 Cleveland State shots, tying a Pavilion record for most blocked shots by one team.

UIC hosts Youngstown State this Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Pavilion.
