May Leads Men's Gymnastics To Victory Over Air Force

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The UIC men's gymnastics team posted its highest team score of the year en route to winning the two-meet weekend series over Air Force at Cadet West Gym on Sunday afternoon. The Flames worked hard to earn every single point as they squeaked by the host Falcons 340.400-340.200. Anthony May captured two event titles to help lead UIC's cause. May scored a 15.450 to take the vault crown and also tallied a season-best 14.650 on the parallel bars to win the event. May also finished second in the all-around competition with a season-best 84.550. Neal Thompson once again garnered another event title for the Flames. The youngster took home the pommel horse crown scoring a 14.550. Thompson won a combined three events during the two-meet series. Matthew Phillips and Kevin Baune had a nice showing placing second with season-best routines. Phillips tallied a 13.900 on the pommel horse and Baune scored a 13.850 on the high bar. Other performances highlighting the afternoon included third place efforts for Bobby Solomon on the floor exercise (14.600), Nikolai Korepanov on still rings (14.400), and Jeff Bill on the vault (15.300). UIC has now won three straight meets heading into next weekend's match at home against Illinois. The men will compete alongside the women's team at the Physical Education Building beginning at 5 p.m.
