Hinsdale, Ill. - The UIC men's tennis team put on an impressive display against No. 46 SMU last night at the Hinsdale Racquet Club.

The Flames came out firing in the opening trio of doubles matches, playing in a lineup that worked last weekend against Wayne State.

The pairing of Sebastian Lystad and Bastian Harbo, playing at the first doubles position, matched the team of Robin Fahgen and Alex Skrypko, ranked 39th in the country at the start of the season, stroke for stroke, taking the Mustangs to a tiebreaker. Lystad and Harbo could not pull out the win, falling 7-3 in the breaker.

In the singles portion of the night, none of the final scores indicated the level of intensity the Flames put forth against one of the top teams in Conference-USA.

"We came out playing hard," said head coach Hans Neufeld. "They just are a different level than us. I'm really pleased at how we performed in doubles. If we do that again tommorow versus Xavier, things look good for league play."

The Flames return to the Hinsdale Racquet Club this evening against Atlantic-10 foe Xavier at 6 p.m.
