Softball's Six-Game Winning Streak On The Line Against Notre Dame April 7, 2008
UIC Softball Game Notes in PDF Format Chicago, Ill. - The UIC softball team is looking to extend its six-game winning streak on Tuesday night in a rescheduled game against Notre Dame. The contest between the Fighting Irish and Flames is set to start at 5:30 p.m. at Flames Field. UIC (16-21) is coming off a strong three-game series sweep over Youngstown State in Canfield, Ohio last weekend. The Flames outscored the Penguins, 29-6. The team totaled 36 hits, nine doubles, 26 RBI and two home runs in three contests. Sarah Clynes was 7-for-13 (.538) with four runs, two doubles, six RBI and one home run. The junior broke the single-game school record with five hits in a 17-2 win over the Penguins in the series finale on April 6. Stephanie Chavez picked up her first homer of the season in game one against YSU on April 5. Clynes also went 3-0 in the circle with 10 strikeouts in 14.0 innings pitched. Notre Dame (22-10) is also defending a six-game winning streak. Katie Laing leads the Fighting Irish with a .353 batting average. Laing has totaled 20 runs, 36 hits, nine doubles, three triples, 36 RBI and six home runs in 32 games. UIC heads to Lincoln Park on Thursday, April 10 to face No. 22 DePaul at Cacciatore Stadium at 4 p.m. For more information, please click on the game notes above.
