Softball Wraps Up Regular Season Against Wright State May 2, 2008
UIC Softball Game Notes in PDF Format Chicago, Ill. - The UIC softball team squares off against Wright State in its final regular season series this weekend at Flames Field on May 3 and 4. The Flames (22-28, 12-6) enter the three-game set ranked third in the league, while Wright State (26-24, 10-7) is close behind in fourth place. Saturday's doubleheader starts at 1 p.m., followed by the series finale at noon on Sunday. Senior Day will be celebrated prior to the first pitch on May 4. UIC is coming off a 5-2 upset over No. 20 DePaul at Flames Field on April 30. The Flames knocked off the Blue Demons after the squad had downed top-ranked Alabama and No. 11 Northwestern at home on April 29. Melissa Marinacci drilled her sixth home run of the season against DePaul. Sarah Clynes allowed just three hits in 7.0 innings of work. Clynes is looking to continue her 12-game league hitting streak this weekend that started on April 5 against Youngstown State. Wright State enters the game after splitting with non-conference IPFW on April 30. Jherica Williams leads the team in league games with a .520 batting average. Williams has totaled 26 hits, 22 runs, six doubles, 24 RBI and five home runs. The Horizon League Tournament starts next Thursday, May 8. The first three seeds earn a bye.
