Complete Weekend Results

Chicago, Ill. - The UIC women's tennis team had a stellar showing this weekend, defeating Illinois State, 4-3 on Saturday and Eastern Michigan, 5-2 this morning.

Against the perennial Missouri Valley powerhouse Redbirds, the Flames came out firing in the season home-opener after taking the doubles point at the third and first positions.

In singles action, Kristen McPhillips and Lubica Nadasska claimed the matches at the third and second slots, with Nadasska defeating ISU's Julia Zubkova, 6-3, 6-3.

After UIC lost the fifth and sixth position matches, Grace Gill-Morlis clinched the Flames victory with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) win over Veronique Park-Bedard in the fourth slot.

The Flames kept the momentum rolling for the matchup against Eastern Michigan. After sweeping all doubles matches, UIC kept the intensity high amidst a change in the line-up.

Ilinca Cristescu stayed strong during a three-set battle against the 2007 MAC conference player of the year, Vanessa Frankowski. The freshman regained her composure after falling in the second set, defeating EMU's top singles player 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.

Without McPhillips in the third position for singles action, Grace Gill-Morlis stepped up to capture a win over Sandra Wilkstrom in the No. 3 slot.

Lubica Nadasska clinched the match for the Flames in straight sets, defeating Aditi Krishnan, 7-5 7-5.
