Eldridge Named CollegeHoops.Net Honorable Mention All-American

NORMAL, Ill. - Osiris Eldridge, who enjoyed a breakout sophomore season that saw him finish second in the Larry Bird Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year voting, added another accolade to his credit Tuesday, as he was named an honorable mention CollegeHoops.net High Major All-American.

Eldridge had 30 double-digit scoring efforts this season, and was named to the MVC First-Team while also collecting All-Tournament team honors. In conference play, he paced the league with a 17.1 points per game scoring average in addition to 5.6 rebounds per Valley game. The two-time MVC Player of the Week had two 30-point efforts, including nine outings with 20 or more points. Eldridge, who was named the 2007 MVC Freshman of the Year, also tallied seven or more rebounds 13 times with two double-digit rebounding outputs.

In all, Eldridge set career-highs in points (34), rebounds (13), assists (six), steals (six), blocks (two) and minutes played (38) this season. He also tallied his first two career double-doubles at Eastern Michigan (Dec. 4, 2007) and Bowling Green (Dec. 16, 2007).

The CollegeHoops.net High Major All-American teams were made up of four squads, and 11 honorable mention selections. Also garnering recognition from Valley teams were Drake's Adam Emmenecker (second-team) and Josh Young (fourth-team). Southern Illinois' Randal Falker joined Eldridge with honorable mention plaudits.
