Women's Golf Takes Second at Saluki Invitational

CARTERVILLE, Ill. - Led by junior co-captain Tiffany Hockensmith and sophomore Laura Harris, the Illinois State women's golf team posted a season-low 296 as a team, on their way to a second-place finish at the Saluki Invitational, hosted by Southern Illinois at the par-70, 5,846 yard Crab Orchard Golf Club.

Hockensmith posted a two-round-total of 146 (72, 74) on her way to a third-place tie, while Harris recorded a two-round-total of 150 (75, 75), while finishing tied for ninth. As a team, Illinois State tallied a two-round-team-total of 602 (306, 296).

Three other Redbirds finished the 12-team, 36-hole event in the top-30 as sophomore Stacey Miller tied for 11th after a two-round-total-of 151 (79, 72), and sophomore Marisa Milligan tied for 24th following a two-round-total of 155 (80, 75). Sophomore Britt Knutson, competed individually, tied for 29th with a two-round-total of 156 (78, 78).

Host Southern Illinois claimed the team title after posting a two-round-team-total of 584 (299, 285). Bradley finished third, three strokes behind ISU, with a two-round-team-total of 605 (299, 306). Braidy Hood of Southern Illinois claimed individual-medalist honors after firing a two-round-total of 139 (72, 67).

ISU returns to action Monday-Tuesday, April 7-8, as they compete in the Indiana Invitational, hosted by Indiana at the Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
