IUP senior Gretchen Colwell has been selected the PSAC Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the PSAC West Challenge held last Saturday at Slippery Rock. Colwell (Templeton/Redbank Valley) won the weight throw and took over the top spot in the PSAC with a best throw of 53 feet, 3 ½ inches. That mark provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division II meet and places her 14th in the nation. Colwell also finished fourth in the shot put at the PSAC West Challenge with a throw of 37-2 ½, which is just four feet short of earning an NCAA provisional qualification. The IUP track and field teams are back in action this weekend at the Bucknell Bison Open in Lewisburg. |
