IUP senior Troy Litten has been selected the PSAC Field Athlete of the Week after earning an automatic qualifying mark in the pole vault at the IUP Open on Saturday. Litten, a graduate of Gettysburg High School, cleared the bar at 16 feet, 5 ¾ inches to take over the top spot in the PSAC and place him in a tie for fourth in the nation. He also competed in the decathlon at the IUP Multis and was second with 6,430 points, only three points out of first, and had the top score in the pole vault, long jump, discus and javelin. Litten will be competing in the pole vault at nationals for the second straight year and will be looking to duplicate his All-America status of last spring when he finished seventh. IUP will be competing in the Paul Kaiser Invitational this Saturday at Shippensburg before hosting the PSAC outdoor championships May 1-3 at Miller Stadium. |
