Elmhurst, IL - IPFW senior center fielder Jared Davis has been named The Summit League Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in IPFW's five games last week.

For the week, Davis hit .524 with three doubles, his fourth home run of the season, and five RBI.

Davis now has 16 doubles, tying him for the league lead.

The Trenton, Illinois native also currently ranks seventh in The Summit League in slugging percentage (.552) and total bases (80).

After slumping a bit at the start of the 2008 campaign, Davis has had a torrid month of April, hitting .442.  His average stands at .345 going into this week's non-conference game at Valparaiso and weekend league series at Oakland.

Following a series split with Centenary, the Mastodons stand at 7-9 in Summit League play.  A late season push has put IPFW in the position to possibly make the conference tournament, which will be hosted by Oral Roberts from May 22-24 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

IPFW has three more conference weekends, beginning with Oakland.  The Mastodons finish up the 2008 regular season with series against South Dakota State and Oral Roberts at Mastodons Field.
