Kansas City, MO - Freshman guard Jordan Zuppe continues to have the hot hand as IPFW had no trouble with UMKC in the Mastodons' regular season finale. Zuppe scored a career-high 27 points in a, 86-67 win Monday night in Kansas City, Missouri.

Zuppe knocked down shots in the final seconds to send IPFW into overtime in the 'Dons last two games.  There would be no need for last-second heroics at UMKC.  Zuppe and the Mastodons let it be known early that this one would not turn into a struggle.

After a jumper from senior Johnna Lewis-Carlisle to open the game, the Kangaroos tied it at two on a basket by Marta Waalen.  It would be the last time on the night that UMKC would be that close.

IPFW quickly opened up a six-point lead as junior forward Maggie O'Connell bagged a triple.

The Mastodons continued to cruise.  Zuppe connected from behind the arc to give the 'Dons a, 40-26 lead with 4:20 remaining in the opening session.

Freshman guard Sarah Haluska gave IPFW its biggest lead of the half at 17 on a layup with 2:20 to go and the 'Dons went into the break up, 49-34.

In the second half, the Mastodons began to rain threes on the Kangaroos.  Sophomore guard Courtney Reed connected from behind the arc.  Sophomore forward Samantha Edwards stepped behind the line a stuck a triple of her own.

Zuppe ripped back-to-back 3-pointers, and the 'Dons were up 25 at, 76-51.

In fact, the freshman from Aliquippa, Pennsylvania hit seven triples in all, tying a school Division I record, as the Mastodons finished off the contest with 13 treys.

Zuppe led all scorer's with her 27.  She also had six rebounds.

Lewis-Carlisle finished the night with 15 points.  She also had seven rebounds and five assists.

O'Connell had her best night in blue and white with 11 points and six boards.

Reed and Edwards each finished the game with nine points.

Chanzy Morris came of the bench to lead UMKC (10-19, 3-15 SL) with 22 points.  Alysa Klein added 20.

With the win, IPFW improves to 12-17 overall and 9-9 in Summit League play.

The Mastodons will now get ready for The Summit League Tournament.  The 'Dons are the No. 5 seed.  They will face No. 4 Oral Roberts on Sunday, March 9 at 1:00 p.m.
