Amy Recht was named the Summit League Player of the Week for the second time this season

April 9, 2008

Elmhurst, IL - IPFW freshman Amy Recht was named the Summit League Tennis Player of the Week for her accomplishments at the league's cluster of matches hosted by IUPUI over the weekend.

Recht went 4-0 at No. 1 singles and 3-1 at No. 2 doubles, and did not lose a set in singles play. She has not lost a set in singles since February 16, and is 23-4 overall on the season. She and doubles teammate Sachi Janek went 3-1 in doubles during the weekend, and are 16-4 on the season as a pair.

As a team, IPFW is now 4-0 in the Summit League, tied with Oral Roberts at the top of the conference. They have a season record of 14-7, and have won eight straight matches, with the team's last loss coming on February 18.

The freshman's honor is the seventh earned by IPFW this season in the 12 weeks the league has done a Player of the Week. Recht previously won the award on January 29, becoming the first `Don to earn the honor, and was followed by Ashley Coulson (January 29), Stacy Lish (February 20 and 26), Janek (March 4) and Hanna Hager (April 1).

The `Dons next take to the court on April 9 when they travel to Valparaiso University to face off against the Crusaders starting at 2:00 p.m. CST.
