Natasha Harvey named A-Sun "Player of the Week"

Jan. 30, 2008

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After leading all collegiate competitors in the long jump and finishing second overall at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic in Gainesville, Fla., JU junior Natasha Harvey was named Atlantic Sun "Player of the Week".

Harvey's jump of 20-9.75" is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and is the fourth best jump in the country so far.

"It was good for Natasha to open up an Olympic year with this kind of an effort," said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "We hope to steadily progress in training and competition leading up to the US Olympic Trials in July."

Harvey earned All-American honors last season after finishing fourth in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships and holds the school record after she jumped 21-05.25" in 2006.

The Dolphins will be in action again on Feb. 15, taking part in the Tiger Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
