Men's soccer head coach Mike Johnson picks up another award

Feb. 12, 2008

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Along with continuous accolades for senior forward Anton Axelsson, JU men's soccer head coach Mike Johnson earned his second "Coach of the Year" award, this time by the Central Florida chapter of the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association.

Johnson and the Dolphins claimed the first Atlantic Sun title in JU history and finished the season with an 11-7-2 record. Due to his squad's success, Johnson was named A-Sun "Coach of the Year" for the second time in his career, having previously received the honors with the JU women's team in 2000.

"I am honored," said Johnson. "This is another tribute to the success our team had in the fall. As with any award, for this to be possible, our team had to achieve our goals. It is nice to be recognized for what your team has accomplished, not only by your peers, but also by a professional organization."
