JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State baseball team improved to a 4-6 overall record by beating the Tougaloo College Bulldogs 25-1 in non-conference action Tuesday evening. For the game JSU scored its 25 runs on 20 hits and finished with 19 RBI. Jerome TYES, Jamaal THELWELL and Michael BRAVO each hit a home run for the Tigers. Tougaloo scored its only run at the top of the first inning. JSU sent on to score six at the bottom of the first. The Tigers scored four runs in the second and third inning. JSU added three more in the fifth and another in the sixth inning. The Tigers finished its scoring in the eighth, scoring seven. Marlon SOMMERVILLE picked up the win for the Tigers. He went 6.1 innings and allowed two hits and one run. He also struck out six batters. LaDerek Camper led JSU's offense going 4-6 at the plate with four runs and a RBI. Tyes, Thelwell and Bravo each recorded two hits for JSU. Bravo finished with six RBI. Jackson State will return to action Wednesday, Mar. 5 when the Tigers host Concordia College (Selma, Ala.) at the JSU Baseball Field for a non-conference double header. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. |
