JACKSON, MISS. - The Jackson State Tigers put together a dominating performance on Wednesday night to shutout the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians in a doubleheader victory 5-4 and 10-0.

In the lead off game, Jackson State took the lead 2-1 by the second inning only to have the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians bat in two runs to post a 3-2 lead in the third inning. The score would remain the same until the Magicians posted their final run in the fifth inning to take the lead 4-2.

The Tigers broke though against pitcher Herman Boody to post three runs and the 5-4 victory against the Magicians. The Tigers had eight hits while holding the Magicians to just three hits. Pitchers Chris HUGGINS and Aljammi Davis had a combined six strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Enrique Quintero had two runs, three hits, one double, one triple and one stolen base to headline the Jackson State Tigers in completing a 10-0 coup against the Magicians.

By the third inning the Tigers posted a 7-0 lead. In inning six JSU added three insurance runs for their second victory of the night improving to a 20-12 overall record.

The Tigers will travel to Southern University to face the Jaguars on Saturday, Apr. 5 but will return to action at home on Sunday, Apr. 6 when they host both Chicago State and Southern University in a double header. Contest against Chicago State begin at 1 p.m. followed by a 5 p.m. game against Southern University.
