MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Jackson State baseball team took two games of a three game weekend series from Alabama State. JSU won Friday's single game 8-3. In Saturday's opener the Hornets won 9-8 and JSU bounced back to take the nightcap 17-8. Charles WILLIAMS picked up the win on Friday. He pitched 5.1 innings and struck out five batters. He gave up two runs and four hits. Cortez COLE led JSU's offense, going 3-3 with a run scored. LaDerek Camper, Enrique Quintero and Jamaal THELWELL each recorded two hits. Thelwell and Pernell HALLIMAN each had home runs. For Saturday's opener Marquise ZACHARY suffered the loss. He pitched 3.2 innings, giving up eight runs and six hits. Camper led the Tigers offense with a hit and two runs. Four other players recorded a hit. In the final game of the series JSU woke up offensively. The Tigers broke the game open with a five run second inning. JSU had a four run fourth and a five run sixth inning. Quintero got the win, pitching three innings with five strike outs. Charles BROWN went 4-5 at the plate with three runs and two RBI. Quintero helped out his own cause as he recorded three hits and three RBI. Camper had two hits and four runs scored. |
