Feb. 4, 2008 Pine Bluff, Ark. - The Jackson State men's basketball team picked up a much needed win, beating the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions 55-51 in SWAC action Monday night. Darrion Griffin scored a game-high 19 points on 5-11 shooting from the floor. Jeremy Caldwell came off the bench to add nine points and Catraiva Givens added eight points. William Byrd led UAPB (9-11, 5-4) with 15 points and Larry Williams added 14. JSU (7-15 overall, 5-4 SWAC) overcame a 31-25 halftime deficit to secure the win. In the second half JSU outscored the Golden Lions 30-20. Jackson State will return to action Saturday, Feb. 9 when the Tigers host in-state rival Alcorn State at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. |
