Feb. 17, 2008 PRAIRIE VIEW, TX - The Prairie View A&M Panthers picked up their sixth win of the season and snapped Jackson State's three game winning streak, by defeating the Tigers 84-75 in Southwestern Athletic Conference men's basketball action Saturday night. Three Panthers scored in double figures. Aaron Smith scored a game-high 25 points on 6-13 shooting. Brian Ezeh followed with 22 points on 11-14 shooting and Blake Thompson finished with 12 on 4-6 shooting. Grant Maxey and Darrion Griffin led JSU with 24 points each. Jeremy Caldwell finished with 11 points and three blocked shots. Jackson State led 39-35 at halftime. The Panthers outscored JSU 49-36 in the second half. For the game JSU was out rebounded 44-30. The Tigers shot 45% from the field and 56% from the free throw line. Prairie View shot 51% from the field and 66% from the line. JSU will return to action Feb. 18 when the Tigers face Texas Southern in Houston. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. |
