Feb. 19, 2008 HOUSTON, Tex. - The Jackson State Tigers basketball team improved to a 10-16 overall record and an 8-5 SWAC mark by beating Texas Southern 79-64 Monday night. Jeremy Caldwell finished with a double-double in leading JSU to the win. Caldwell scored a game high 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Garrison Johnson followed with 15 points on 4-10 shooting and Darrion Griffin chipped in 11 points on 5-10 shooting. JSU out rebounded TSU 42-29 and made 20-28 free throws. Texas Southern went 12-22 from the line. Two TSU Tigers scored in double figures. Matthew Miller scored a team high 12 points and Damian Henderson added 11. Jackson State led 38-34. JSU will return to action Feb. 23 when the Tigers travel to Grambling, LA to face Grambling State on ESPNU. Tip-off is set for 1:00 pm. |
