PHILADELPHIA, Miss. - The Jackson State men and women golf teams lead the first round of the 2008 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships. After the first round of play the Lady Tigers are in first place with a team score of 305. The top four players of the tournament are JSU Lady Tigers. Shasta Averyhardt shot a 73 (one over par). Merielle LeBlanc and Jennifer Sells follow with a 77 each. Nikeya Peay is fourth, as she shot a 78. Texas Southern is in second place. On the men's side JSU shot a 306. Albert Kilgore, III leads JSU with a first round score of 74. He is in a three way tie for first place with Grambling's Johnathan Coleman and Alabama State's Devin Crenshaw. The SWAC Golf Championship will continue Monday morning at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Course in Philadelphia, MS. |
