Tigers finish with four top 10 performances at Razorback Invitational



JSU Tigers track performs well at Razorback Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Distance runner Courtney Irby was the lone Tiger to win an event at the University of Arkansas Razorback Invitational this weekend. He won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.13.

JSU had three other top ten finishes. Ronnell Jones came in fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.89 meters, and eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 13.27 meters. The JSU 4x400 meter relay team came in ninth place with a time of 3:13.55.

Justin Vance came in 16th place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.03 and Lincoln Lampley finished 49th (23.20). In the 400 m dash Allen Sinegal finished 30th (49.15), Dabodorick Walton finished 34th (49.64), Derrick Ray finished 35th (49.64), Desmond Lowe finished 50th (51.37) and Durante Ponder finished 57th (52.66).

Marqueno Davis came in 25th place in the 1 mile run with a time of 5:07.42. Kevin Itima and Derrick Burnett finished in 12th and 27th place respectively in the 800 m run. Jamal Jones finished 21st in the 3000 m run and Stanley Martin finished 15th in the 5000 m run.

Sinegal secured 16th place in the long jump with a distance of 6.86 meters. The JSU distance medley relay team finished in 12th place.

Jackson State will return to action Feb. 2 for the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, IN.
