FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Jackson State track and field team did not have much success on the first day of mostly preliminary events at the NCAA Mideast Regional as none of its athletes were able to advance to the finals. Senior Courtney Irby finished the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.68. Junior Wilbert Smith finished the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.26. Freshmen Ronnel Jones finished the shot put with a throw of 14.98m. Junior Toniece Williams finished the 100-meter hurdles with a season best of 14.05. Freshmen Justin Vance posted a time of 10.74 in the 100-meter dash Junior Daboderick Walton finished the 400-meter dash in 47.63. Unfortunately Leadrianne White and Tayari Clay were unable to post marks in the hammer throw and 400-meter dash respectively. The Tigers will conclude the Mid East Regional tomorrow.
