Final Stats

NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Jackson State softball team improved to a 6-10 record by beating Stephen F. Austin 2-1 Saturday evening at the NSU Invitational hosted by Northwestern State University.

The Lady Tigers finished the day with a two game win streak, beating Siena College 5-1 in an early game.

In the defensive battle against SFA, JSU allowed only one run in the first inning. Neither team scored again until the Lady Tigers put up two in the seventh. In the seventh an Amanda Boggan double to left center sent Ray Williams and Carsheena Blanks home for the game winning runs.

With the win, JSU avenged an earlier loss to the Ladyjacks in the tournament. Freshman pitcher Brittanie Talley picked up her third win of the season. In seven innings of work, she gave up six hits and only one run.

JSU will return to action Sunday when the Lady Tigers face Siena College and Northwestern State on the final day for the NSU Invitational. First pitch for the JSU - Siena game is set for 11 a.m.
