JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State women's tennis team fell 6-1 to Xavier University in non-conference tennis action Saturday afternoon. With the loss JSU falls to a 9-6 overall record. The Lady Tigers were swept 3-0 in doubles play and secured their only win in singles play. At No. 1 doubles Darel Smith and Angela fell 8-1 to Dominique Bell and Anastesia Opata. Paulina Vargas and Valentina Prado fell 8-3 to Yuliem Dominguez and Colleen McArthur at No. 2. At No. 3 Geneva Warren and Daniella Pimentel lost to Alexandra Broussard and Melissa Deloach 8-4. Prado got JSU's only win of the day at No. 5 singles, where she beat Deloach. JSU will return to action April 16 for the 2008 SWAC Tennis Championships in Alexandria, LA. |
