The Jackson State women's tennis team has started the 2008 season with a 2-0 record after beating Stillman College in non-conference action Thursday afternoon. JSU won 7-0. In doubles play JSU won two games. At No. 1 Paulina Vargas and Valentina Prado defeated Amanda Regan and Lauren Thomas 8-0, No. 2 Angela Rose and Geneva Warren defeated Andrea McCorrey and Ashley McCullough 8-1. JSU swept singles play. No. 1 Vargas defeated Regan 6-1, 6-0, No. 2 Warren defeated Thomas 6-3, 6-0, No. 3 Rose beat McCorrey 6-0, 6-0, No. 4 Prado defeated McCullough 6-0, 6-0, No. 5 Daniella Pimantel defeated Rosine Komayombi 6-0, 7-5, and at No. 6 Darel Smith beat Adrienne Freeman 6-2, 6-1. Jackson State will return to action Feb. 23 when the Tigers travel to Pine Bluff, Ark. to face the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions. |
