JCSU Wins Two Events at Texas Roadhouse Carolina Classic

The Johnson C. Smith University men's and women's track & field team won two events to highlight the action on the second day of the Texas Roadhouse Carolina Classic on Saturday in Chapel Hill, N.C. hosted by UNC-Chapel Hill.

Freshman Shermaine Williams ran a 8.44 beating out Division I programs such as Clemson, UNC-Charlotte, and Coastal Carolina to win the 60 meter hurdles.

On the men's side, freshman Leford Green ran a 21.84 in the 200 meter dash to secure the win for JCSU. The 4x 400 meter relay team of Alberto DeCosta, Leford Green, Demetrius Hawkins, and John Rosemond) finished 7th overall with a time of 3:25.03. Coleman McNeil finished 20th in the shot put with a throw of 12.70m/41'08.00".

The Golden Bulls now head to Newport News, Va. to compete in the CIAA Indoor Championships on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 9-10.
