Virginia State took an early five point lead over the Lady Golden Bulls but their efforts would not last long as JCSU pulled away late in the first half and never looked back en route to a 70-50 victory. JCSU's record improved to 14-7, 10-3 in league play.

JCSU took a double-digit lead capitalizing on 19 Lady Trojan turnovers. The Bulls quickly turned that into 19 points. By the time the first half was over with, JCSU controlled a 13-point lead, 37-24. The second half was not much of a difference only that the lead swelled to as many as 27 points. Despite reducing their turnovers to just nine in the second half of play, the damage had already been done. Seventh year head coach Vanessa Taylor used her entire roster tonight to lead her team to victory.

Ashley Chase (Baltimore, Md.) and Kyria Buford (Charlotte, N.C.) combined for 31 of the team's 70 total points en route to their 10th conference victory of the season. Buford had another double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Chase had an all-around game as she scored 13 points, dished out nine assists, pulled down five rebounds and stole the ball three times. Rochelle Bodie (Raleigh, N.C.) rounded out the JCSU scorers in double-figures with 10 points. She also had five rebounds and two blocked shots in just 18 minutes of play.

For Virginia State (9-12, 3-9 CIAA), Katania Walker had a team high 19 points while Eugenna Carson added 12. Carson also had nine rebounds in the loss.

JCSU will wrap-up their eastern division schedule at Virginia State on Thursday, Feb. 8. Tip-off is at 5:30 pm in Daniel Gymnasium.
