JCSU Women Rout Livingstone 72-52

Valentine's Day got a little sweeter for the Lady Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University (17-7, 13-3 CIAA) as they routed Livingstone College 72-52 on the road, extending their winning streak to five games. Despite attempting just 47 shots, JCSU connected on 27 of those for a season best 57% from the floor.

Most of the offensive damage was done in the first half as the Lady Golden Bulls outscored Livingstone 33-18. The team held the Lady Blue Bears to just 19% shooting in the first stanza.

The second half was saw JCSU shoot an amazing 63% from the field. JCSU controlled a 34-point advantage late in the second half. Every player dressed in pink uniforms tonight received at least three minutes of playing time. Livingstone, (6-17, 5-11 CIAA) playing against the reserve,s was able to cut the lead to 20, but that would be as close as the score would get.

Kyria Buford (Charlotte, N.C.) continued her double-digit scoring ways with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Senior Ashley Chase (Baltimore, Md.) added 11 points while freshman Miryame Diouf (Powder Springs, Ga.) chipped in 10 points.

Turquoise Lane was the only Lady Blue Bear in double figures with 13 points. She also had six steals and five rebounds. Lina Brown added seven points off the bench, including six rebounds and four blocked shots.

JCSU moves on to make their television debut on Saturday, Feb. 16th for a 12 noon match-up against the Lady Bears of Shaw University. The game will be played at Broughton High School in Raleigh, N.C. and can be seen live on CSTV and Fox Sports Net.

Note: A win over Shaw University on Saturday guarantees JCSU the western division crown.
